LUBBOCK, TX. (June 12, 2024) — After nine months of renovations, the University Medical Center in Lubbock reopened its main entrance and lobby area, including the gift shop, in May of 2024. In celebration, UMC hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, June 12 to celebrate the Grand Reopening of Lori’s Gifts Store #157.
The main entrance and lobby were closed in September 2023 for an 11,820 square foot renovation inclusive of the reception, gift shop, waiting areas, a new cafe and circulation space. The main entrance moved to the East Tower during that time, and the gift shop was moved into a much smaller, more remote temporary location. Lori’s team members were thrilled to move back to the updated, expansive retail space, opening the doors just in time for Father’s Day shopping.
Hospital administrators, staff, and volunteers joined with Lori’s Field Leaders to cut the red ribbon and welcome guests to the gift shop. The event was marked with special Grand Opening sales, games and prizes. Visitors were pleasantly surprised at the quality and assortment of products displayed in the beautifully renovated store, with lines forming at the door all day.
Bob Robinson, Lori’s Gifts Southern Regional VP, stated: “We are thrilled to have such a great partnership of numerous years with UMC. We couldn’t be more proud to be a part of this long term and wonderful facility. Thank you to the hospital and the Board.” A Lori’s Grand Opening is a carefully orchestrated event with many, many moving parts, requiring top-notch communication and coordination between Lori’s and its partner.
